Audiences.
An audience to me is a group of people of watch or get a product and say what they think and feel about the product. Without a producer to bring out something then an audience wouldn't be a thing, however producers need audiences to get feedback and opinions on products to make them better and move forward. I think producers and audiences are equally as important to each other. Without audiences producers would fail unless they are really lucky because they wouldn't have any feedback and for future products they could be making the same mistakes that people don't like which would put people of from buying that product.
Target audience is when a producer will make a product that will specifically benefit someone that fits the criteria of the product. For example speakers and headphones are targeted at people who enjoy music and wouldn't be very useful to someone who doesn't like music. Another example would be advent calendars as they are targeted for people under the age of 25.
Having a target audience is important because releasing a product to a set group of people will probably make more sales than having a product that is available to everyone. I think this because a product made for a group of people for example males around the age of 30 will sell more as a 30 year old male will look at it and think "this is aimed for me I should probably get this" compared to a product that doesn't have a target audience and some people may think "that product isn't aimed at me I don't need it".
In conclusion, I think that audiences are a necessity in order for producers to do well and without them the product would be pretty useless because no one would buy it. I couldn't find anything on audience positioning so i couldn't write about that.
This is a great start Stephen, i think that you may have benefitted from a stronger intro outlining also what others may think an audience is a theory or two even?
ReplyDeleteAlthough you use a few examples some more pertinent or media specific with illustrations or pictures would help you for your future revision.
You did not look hard enough for Audience Positioning Stephen try again!
I still have to edit this and put in the different categories and demographics to put into this blog. I will look at what others have said and look at others opinion and put it into this blog.
